Omair Rauf is a Consultant Radiologist whose area of specialist interest is Musculoskeletal Imaging. He is well versed in MR scanning, CT scanning and ultrasound imaging of the Musculoskeletal system.
Omair trained in Radiology in the North West Regional Training Scheme Manchester. On completion of his training he was appointed Consultant Radiologist at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport in 2002. In addition to his specialist musculoskeletal imaging sessions at the hospital, he is involved with all the other aspects of general radiology work mainly cross-sectional imaging. He maintains close liaison with the Trauma & Orthopaedic Team, the Casualty department and the Rheumatology department. His other area of interest is neuro imaging and is at present actively involved in setting up acute imaging services for stroke patients.
Omair is actively involved in teaching of both under and post-graduates. He also has significant experience in Clinical Medicine which confers him a broad base to assist with his teaching and practice, as he trained in medicine getting his MRCP from Edinburgh prior to his training in Radiology.
He is the Audit lead for the Radiology department. He keeps abreast with the latest trends in imaging. He is a member of various radiological societies, including the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology.
He consults at the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, the Regency in Macclesfield and the Stockport Imaging Centre at Stepping Hill Hospital.
